Your Right to Choose

Your legal right to choose the hospital, clinic, or NHS-funded provider for your care.

What is Right to Choose (RTC)?

Right to Choose is the legal right, in most cases, to choose the hospital, clinic, or NHS-funded provider to deliver your care. If a GP decides you would benefit from seeing a specialist, you can use this pathway.

How can I request a Right to Choose ADHD assessment?

Healthcare Central London is an approved NHS Right to Choose provider. This means your GP can refer you to us, and the assessment is funded by the NHS.

You are eligible for our service if:

  • You are registered with a GP in England

  • Your GP agrees that an ADHD assessment is clinically appropriate

  • The provider (such as us) holds a contract with an NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)

There is no private fee.

The NHS covers the full cost of the assessment and follow up appointments.

If you require medicines, and are not exempt from paying for prescriptions, then you may have to pay the NHS fee for medicines when you collect at your local community pharmacy.

Please note, we can only take referrals from a GP.

To make it as easy as possible to use our service, we’ve created a letter you can send to your GP to ask them to make a referral.

Use our template letter here.

  1. You ask your GP to refer you to the Healthcare Central London under Right to Choose.

  2. Your GP sends the referral to us.

  3. We contact you to confirm we have got your referral and set you up on our system.

  4. You complete our pre-assessment forms – these must be completed before we book an appointment.

  5. We book your assessment.

  6. You complete the assessment.

  7. You receive a a written summary of your assessment (a diagnostic report) and recommendations.
