First Contact Practitioners (FCPs) are highly specialist physios who can provide rapid access to a specialist assessment for musculoskeletal pains. In other words, anything that you would normally have expected/hoped to see a Physiotherapist about can be dealt with by FCPs.
FCPs take a history of your problem, conduct a through physical examination and then explain the findings and discuss what your options are. This may include help with self management/rehabilitation or referrals to another service if appropriate.
FCPs differ from “traditional” Physio’s in that it is an assessment and diagnosis only. It is not ongoing treatment or manual therapy (hands on treatment).

FCPs can help anyone aged 16 and over with musculoskeletal pain/problems.
