Our governance framework

Healthcare Central London’s approach to clinical and information governance is in line with NHS England’s framework. Our Clinical Governance Lead and Data Protection Officer work together to provide guidance to HCL colleagues and our member Practices.

Clinical governance

We are committed to creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care will flourish.

To help us achieve this:

  • We have appointed Penelope O’Hara as our Clinical Governance Lead
  • We have reviewed and updated all our policies
  • Our Quality and Safety Board meets on a monthly basis to review complaints, risks and incidents and ratify new policies
  • We are Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered

Information governance

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to protect sensitive data, including patients’ personal information, from damage, loss or corruption.

To help us achieve this:

  • We have appointed Umar Sabat, Managing Director at IG-Health as our Data Protection Officer (DPO)
  • Our DPO writes and reviews our policies and procedures and deals with
any data breaches
  • Our DPO is also responsible for our Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), Data Sharing Agreements, Information Asset Register (IAR) and Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
