Improving access

It’s time you fixed your digital front door for patients!

The problem

As NHS organisations we’re increasingly under pressure to maximise our digital access. But, for many of us, our websites don’t reflect the modern era.

The way people use the internet, and the technologies behind websites, have evolved incredibly quickly. Especially in the last few years. Even relatively newer designs don’t work as well or feel outdated and neglected.

Why does this matter?

According to the NHSFutures GP Website usability testing 2022, 36% of tasks were abandoned on
poor websites compared to less than 10% on the best.

Bad websites impact the care we give.

Not only that but improving your digital access could lead to financial incentives. Healthcare Central London’s member Practices have used refreshed websites to show achievement against “Faster care navigation, assessment, and response” to get the full 30% CAIP funding, and are part of our evidence for 2025/26.

What’s the solution?

Four years ago, we recognised we needed to make an investment that would better serve how our patients interact with us online.

We transformed our Federation website, creating a brand that feels caring and friendly but also a reflection on our innovation approach to community health.

Learning from that success, we turned our attention to our four Primary Care Networks and our member General Practices. We created four brands that sit within the Healthcare Central London umbrella while giving all Practices the space to reflect their own identity.

What is the current feedback?

We now have 23 websites live, all adhering to the Creating a highly usable and accessible GP website for patients NHS guidance. Feedback from patients and Practices has been overwhelmingly positive:

“Feedback from patients is great. Our PPG were pleased with the changes we have made.” Pimlico Health @ The Marven

“Simpler to the eye, easier to navigate.” Paddington Green Health Centre
