Promotional flyer for Trans Health in Primary Care taster webinar

To coincide with Transgender Awareness Week, HCL is running a free taster session on November 13th 2024 of its ‘Supporting Trans Health in Primary Care’ training.

In the 30 minute virtual session, led by Dr Joanna Lovett, a SPIN fellow for Central London on Trans Health and salaried GP working in a Central London practice, you’ll learn more about gender identity and problems currently faced by these patients.

The session will cover:

  • An overview on gender definitions
  • Current Adult Gender Identity Services
  • The current issues for patients and primary care staff
  • Practical tips
  • Information about further training

Research shows that many of this vulnerable community do not currently feel their needs are fully met within Primary Care. According to the Pride in Practice 2021 survey:

  • 59% of patients felt their GP met their need as an LGBTQ+ person
  • 50% of trans people felt their GP met their needs
  • 36% of non-binary people felt their GP met their needs

This session, running from 10am-10.30am GMT, will give an introduction to how you can increase this support and understanding.

Clinical and non-clinical staff are welcome to attend.

Register for the event using the form below and we’ll email you with the link.

This webinar includes some of the information covered in our full Trans Health training packages. Please contact us via hcl.corporate@nhs.net for the details of these sessions.
